Job Description:
The Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg Float Pool provides safe, effective, and quality nursing care to patients across various Medical-Surgical and Medical-Surgical/Telemetry units at the Fairfield and Vacaville locations. The RN assesses patient conditions, develops and implements individualized care plans, administers treatments, and evaluates patient outcomes in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team. This position requires flexibility to float between units, strong telemetry skills, and previous travel nursing experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess patients’ physical, psychosocial, and developmental needs and identify changes in clinical condition.
Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans based on patient needs.
Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, symptoms, and responses to treatments.
Administer medications and treatments safely according to established protocols.
Provide nursing care to patients across Medical-Surgical and Medical-Surgical/Telemetry units.
Document nursing assessments, interventions, patient responses, and outcomes accurately.
Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, and ongoing care needs.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care.
Delegate tasks appropriately and supervise nursing care provided by other team members.
Advocate for patients’ safety, comfort, rights, and informed healthcare decisions.
Maintain effective communication during patient handoffs and care transitions.
Promote patient satisfaction and deliver culturally competent, ethical, and age-appropriate care.
Required Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited school of professional registered nursing.
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Minimum 3 years of acute care experience.
Active California RN License.
AHA BLS certification.
Telemetry experience required.
Previous travel nursing experience required.
Ability to float between various Med/Surg and Med/Tele units at both Fairfield and Vacaville locations.
Strong written, verbal, and electronic communication skills.
Ability to perform the physical duties of the role, including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, standing, and walking.
