Ideally, candidates who have some oncology experience would be beneficial. On the unit we require our staff to complete the ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy course to administer vesicant chemotherapy. After completion of a unit based oncology course and unit orientation, 11 east staff administer non-vesicant chemotherapy. We would not assign patients who are actively receiving chemotherapy infusions to a FC contract, unless they have completed the ONS course or they are OCN certified.
