Job Title: Licensed Practice Nurse
Location: New York, NY
Duration: 03 months Contract
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9-5pm
Hourly rate: $43/hour on W2 (Negotiable)
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide supportive and restorative nursing care under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), licensed physician, or dentist.
- Deliver nursing care in structured, routine situations that do not require complex clinical judgment.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal care and mobility.
- Perform routine nursing procedures such as suctioning and urinary catheterization.
- Prepare patients for surgeries, diagnostic tests, treatments, and examinations.
- Administer medications within the LPN scope of practice.
- Collect, label, and process laboratory specimens accurately.
- Set up intravenous (IV) equipment and initiate peripheral IV infusions within scope of practice.
- Administer blood and blood products after completing required specialized training.
- Observe, document, and report patient conditions, treatments, medications, incidents, and changes to the RN using unit documentation standards.
- Carry out delegated patient care assignments from the RN.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of nursing care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Reinforce patient and family education as directed by the RN.
- Provide emotional support to patients and their families or caregivers.
- Assist with patient rehabilitation according to the established care plan.
- Promote patient comfort, safety, and well-being.
- Participate in patient care conferences and interdisciplinary team discussions.
- Respond to emergencies by activating the Team 7000 response, performing Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), assisting with resuscitation efforts, and documenting care provided.
Education Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) education program.
- Successfully complete the New York State Department of Health LPN IV Therapy Initial Program during centralized orientation to demonstrate competency in IV therapy and blood administration.
- Complete the annual unit-based competency review and update for IV therapy procedures.
Licensure & Certifications
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Active New York State license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
